Women at R.O.S.A.: Creating space to Lead, Grow, and Be Heard

Women’s Equality Day is a moment to celebrate how far women have come, while recognizing the work that still remains. At R.O.S.A., that reflection is especially meaningful because female empowerment is something we strive to put into practice within our own global team.

During a recent team conversation, R.O.S.A. founder Mariarosy Calleri reflected on how, throughout the 1800s, many female writers had to publish under male names for their work to be taken seriously. More than two centuries later, women have broken countless barriers, yet unequal opportunities and the “glass ceiling” remain a reality across many professional fields.

For R.O.S.A., creating change also means creating opportunities.

Creating Space for the Next Generation of Women

Today, women from around the world are an important part of R.O.S.A.’s intern community. The presence of female interns and volunteers in our team has brought their own perspectives, creativity, and ambitions to our mission.

From social media and digital storytelling to research and marketing, their internships provide opportunities to turn their knowledge into hands-on professional experience. Just as importantly, they are given the space to share ideas, take responsibility, collaborate internationally, and continue developing their own voices.

They come from different countries and backgrounds, but together they represent something we deeply value: giving young women the opportunity to learn by doing, grow with confidence, and make meaningful contributions to a global mission.

Female Leadership at R.O.S.A.

That female presence extends throughout R.O.S.A.’s leadership and professional team.

At its center is Mariarosy Calleri, R.O.S.A.’s President and Program Director, who co-founded the organization in 2014 after a career spanning education, journalism, and documentary production. Her commitment to female empowerment also includes serving as an Ambassador and Mentor of Female Entrepreneurship to the European Commission.

Alongside her, women including Kayla Liu, Tania Khan, Rosangela Bruno, Jennah Nguyen, and Svetlozara Zlatanova contribute expertise across technology, web development, SEO, marketing, communications, and content creation.

Their work is a reminder that women belong in every part of an organization, from creative communication to technology and organizational leadership.

Opening Doors and Closing Gaps

At R.O.S.A., we know that gender equality is bigger than any one organization. But we also believe meaningful change begins with the opportunities we create around us.

By providing women with spaces to gain experience, develop their skills, contribute their ideas, and step into leadership, we hope to play our part in closing historical gaps and building a more inclusive professional future.

On Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate the women who opened doors before us, and the women at R.O.S.A. who are creating new opportunities for those who come next.
