Where can I volunteer?

R.O.S.A. offers on-site opportunities in:

  • Zanzibar, Tanzania
  • Phuket, Thailand
  • Northern Vietnam

We also offer remote volunteering for those who prefer to support from home — perfect for interns, students, and professionals.

What kind of work will I do?

Your role depends on your skills, interests, and availability. Examples include:

  • Teaching digital literacy, storytelling, or coding
  • Leading workshops in English, arts, or life skills
  • Supporting content creation, social media, or marketing
  • Assisting with curriculum design or translation
  • Mentoring students or educators
  • Offering tech support or training
  • Helping with NGO financial reports, marketing strategy or impact measurement

Each volunteer receives guidance and is matched to a meaningful, context-appropriate role.

How long is the commitment?

  • In-person placements: from 2 to 20 weeks in Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia
  • Remote volunteers/interns: from 3 weeks to 6 months (flexible hours: 12 to 20 per week)
  • Short-term & project-based roles: Available year-round

We offer flexible start dates and durations to fit your lifestyle and school requirements.

Do I need experience in teaching or tech?

No. We provide pre-departure orientation, digital training (including Cisco and IBM online courses), and on-site support. Enthusiasm, empathy, and curiosity are your most important assets.

How much does it cost to volunteer abroad?

For in-person volunteers, a participation fee may apply to cover:

  • Accommodation
  • Meals and transport
  • Local coordination and cultural activities
  • Training and materials

We keep fees affordable and offer scholarships or discounted rates for qualifying applicants. Remote volunteering is free of charge.

Will I receive certification or recognition?

Yes. Volunteers receive:

  • Certificate of Participation
  • Reference letter upon request
  • Cisco Networking Academy Badges (for relevant programs)
  • Access to the R.O.S.A. Global Volunteer Alumni Network

Interns may also use their experience at R.O.S.A. to fulfill academic credits.

What support will I get during the program?

You’ll be guided every step of the way:
