Unleash the Potential of Youth: The Tanzanian Embassy in Rome Hosts ReCoding Africa Event
On Tuesday, July 9, R.O.S.A. – Remove Obstacles to Social Awareness held a successful event at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania to share ReCoding Africa’s hugely impactful program to provide African high school students with coding skills and strategic knowledge needed to thrive in our 21st-century global information society.
R.O.S.A.’s President, Mariarosy Calleri, gave a powerful speech about how creating the ReCoding Africa program has contributed to a more meaningful life for her. Calleri explained how she feels fulfilled by helping others and has a strong sense of purpose in her endeavors as R.O.S.A. contributes to the greater good of society, a sentiment shared by many in attendance.
Mahmoud Kombo, the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Italy, shared a similar idea in his speech. He stressed the need for programs such as ReCoding Africa in his country, noting that more than 80% of Tanzanians do not touch a computer until their first year of university.
Along with Ambassador Kombo and President Calleri’s impactful speeches came live music, fantastic food, and engaging guest discussion. The catering was generously sponsored by Anne Tasca and the Momart Restaurant with delightful Tanzanian dishes provided by the Embassy. Canale Italy provided Prosecco and Frantoio Presciuttini treated guests to local white wine and “zero kilometer” olive oil.

Another event highlight came when Laura Mantovi, a custom jewelry designer, gifted Mariarosy Calleri a beautiful necklace to wear on her upcoming trip to Tanzania and gifted a handsome pin to Ambassador Kombo as thanks for his hospitality and support of the ReCoding Africa program.
