Empowering Educators, Bridging the Digital Divide: R.O.S.A. Launches the ReCoding Africa TTT Program – Train Teachers for Tomorrow in Zanzibar, with the support of the Cisco Foundation

At R.O.S.A. – Remove Obstacles to Social Awareness, we believe that quality education is the cornerstone of sustainable development. This month, we’re proud to celebrate two milestones that will accelerate our mission to bridge the digital divide across Africa: 1. our recognition as a Cisco Global Impact Partner, and 2. the upcoming launch of the ReCoding Africa TTT – Train Teachers for Tomorrow program which will be implemented in Zanzibar from Nov 11 to Nov 21, 2025

A Powerful Partnership for Lasting Change

Earlier this year, R.O.S.A. was awarded the Cisco Foundation’s Global Impact Cash Grant, a prestigious endorsement that validates our innovative approach to digital education. This collaboration embodies a shared vision to power an inclusive digital future for all.

“This grant is a powerful validation of our work and a catalyst that will allow us to dramatically scale our impact,”

said Mariarosy Calleri, President of R.O.S.A.

“By empowering high school teachers, we are not just equipping them with strategic skills; we are building a resilient and equitable future for their communities.”

The Cisco Foundation’s mission to nurture early-stage, innovative high-impact solutions aligns perfectly with R.O.S.A.’s focus on innovation and digital skills development. Together, we’re working to increase access to quality education, equip educators with 21st-century ICT skills, and create a ripple effect of knowledge and expertise that reaches students, schools, and entire communities.

The TTT Program: Training Teachers for Tomorrow

Launching November 11–21, 2025, at the Nkrumah Teacher Training College in Zanzibar, the TTT program will train 40 high school teachers in essential ICT competencies, active learning pedagogy, and strategic use of technology for curriculum development and classroom engagement.

This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Zanzibar, aims to align the local school system with global standards. Participants will gain access to the IBM SkillsBuild platform to help them  strengthen communication, teamwork, and problem-solving—skills crucial for today’s digital economy.

The program will conclude with a formal Awards Ceremony on November 21, celebrating the teachers’ achievements in the presence of ministry representatives and local leaders.

About the Training Facility: Nkrumah Teacher Training College

Founded in the 1970s, Nkrumah Teacher Training College has shaped generations of educators in Zanzibar. Today, as part of the World Bank’s ZIQUE project, it continues to champion innovation in education.

In collaboration with R.O.S.A. and Cisco, the college will host this year’s ReCoding Africa TTT Program, helping teachers integrate digital tools and active learning methodologies into their classrooms.

Preparing to Train the Trainers.

On the 24th of October, the international team of the ReCoding Africa TTT Program – Training Teachers for Tomorrow met with the 40 trainees before the upcoming mission to Zanzibar.

During the online session, the R.O.S.A. Instructors presented to the trainees the IBM SkillsBuild Platform and the High School Teacher Toolkit designed to help educators integrate ICT tools into their lessons, foster active learning and develop students’ digital and soft skills.

In November, these tools will become part of the ReCoding Africa TTT – Training Teachers for Tomorrow program, empowering local teachers to lead digital transformation in their classrooms and inspire future generations.

Because every teacher trained creates a ripple of change.
