Empowering Teachers and Communities Through Technology: R.O.S.A. and IBM at the Global Month of Impact 2025

In October 2025, R.O.S.A. had the honor of participating in IBM’s Global Month of Impact, a worldwide initiative that celebrates volunteerism, education, and social innovation. Each year, IBM invites organizations, educators, and changemakers to collaborate in creating lasting impact through knowledge-sharing and digital empowerment.

For over a century, IBM has fostered a culture of giving back — encouraging its employees to use their expertise to make a difference in the communities where they live and work. This year’s Global Month of Impact brought together thousands of volunteers and partner organizations from around the world to support projects focused on education, digital literacy, and inclusion.

R.O.S.A.’s Contribution: Promoting Education and Digital Inclusion

On October 20th, 2025, Mariarosy Calleri, Co-Founder and International Relations Representative of R.O.S.A., was invited as a Special Guest Speaker at IBM’s Global Month of Impact. During her presentation, she shared R.O.S.A.’s vision of promoting education, digital inclusion, and empowerment in underserved communities across Africa and Asia.

Mariarosy’s talk focused on how R.O.S.A. develops programs that connect technology with human potential — offering teachers and students tools to build 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, leadership, and entrepreneurship. She highlighted how IBM professionals can join R.O.S.A.’s initiatives as volunteers, both online and on-site, by contributing their expertise in digital literacy education, communication, and mentoring.

“Education,” she emphasized, “is not only about access to information, but about creating bridges between technology and opportunity. By working together, we can empower communities to lead their own transformation stories.”

This collaboration between IBM and R.O.S.A. represents the power of partnership: when corporate innovation meets social commitment, sustainable change becomes possible.

Preparing for Zanzibar: IBM SkillsBuild as Our Learning Platform

Looking ahead, R.O.S.A. is preparing to launch the Training Teachers for Tomorrow (TTT) Program in Zanzibar this November — an international teacher training initiative that aims to strengthen local educators’ digital skills and classroom engagement strategies.

For this training, R.O.S.A. will use the IBM SkillsBuild platform as its official Learning Management System (LMS).

The IBM SkillsBuild Toolkit for Secondary School Educators offers free, innovative digital learning resources that empower teachers to integrate ICT tools into their lessons, promote active learning, and develop both digital and soft skills among students. Through its High School Teachers’ Toolkit, the platform enables educators to upskill, collaborate, and access curated materials that make classrooms more dynamic and inclusive.

By integrating IBM SkillsBuild into the TTT Program, R.O.S.A. aims to empower educators with structured digital resources designed to enhance learning outcomes and classroom effectiveness. The initiative will foster critical thinkingand problem-solving skills through interactive learning tools, while also encouraging career readiness and innovationwithin local education systems. Moreover, it will establish a sustainable framework for continuous teacher professional development, ensuring long-term impact and growth in educational quality.

This initiative, supported by the Cisco Foundation as part of the broader Recoding Africa project, aims to help educators master digital transformation while cultivating inclusive and forward-thinking classrooms.
