Official meeting with Khalid Masoud Wazir, Deputy Principal Secretary at the MoEVT of Zanzibar
R.O.S.A. is proud to announce a transformative partnership with the Zanzibar Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) to launch the ReCoding Africa Teacher Training Program: Training Teachers for Tomorrow. This pioneering initiative is designed to empower high school teachers with 21st-century teaching methodologies. This collaboration, formalized on April 14, 2025 by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marks a major step toward modernizing Zanzibar’s education system by moving away from traditional passive learning and embracing dynamic, neuroscience-informed pedagogies integrated with technology.
The partnership kicks off with a pilot program that will provide intensive training for 40 high school teachers at Teacher Centers in Zanzibar. These educators will undergo professional development sessions focused on active learning strategies, digital tools for instruction, and the latest insights from cognitive science to support student engagement and academic success.

“We are thrilled to work alongside the Zanzibar Ministry of Education in reimagining how teaching and learning take place,” said Mariarosy Calleri, Executive Director of R.O.S.A. “ReCoding Africa is not just a training program—it’s a movement to redefine educational impact by aligning classroom practices with how students actually learn best in today’s world.”
The initiative responds to a growing recognition across the African continent that education systems must evolve to meet the demands of the 21st century global society. By equipping teachers with new skills and tools, the ReCoding Africa Teacher Training program aims to create classrooms where students are active participants, problem solvers, and critical thinkers.

As the pilot phase unfolds, R.O.S.A. and the Ministry will closely monitor impact and gather insights to refine and expand the program across the archipelago. With a shared vision of educational excellence and equity, this partnership signals the beginning of a new era for Zanzibar’s schools—one rooted in relevance, innovation, and empowerment.
